About

Dan grew up in Waukesha, WI where he was a part of the cross country, swimming and track programs. In his previous career he travelled extensively and developed unhealthy health markers. At age 30, living in Miami Beach, Dan was jet-lagged, overworked, out of shape and in desperate need of a drastic lifestyle change. He engaged in a course of personal and professional transformation, first overhauling his own diet and exercise habits. Inspired, he was drawn to share this transformation with others. Dan opened his first fitness and nutrition center in Miami in 2008 followed by another location in Miami Beach in 2011. In mid-2022 he and his family moved back to the Waukesha area. He has created achievable successes for many people of diverse backgrounds. He continues to embrace his local community with a commitment to a balanced approach for nutrition and exercise.

Q & A

Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?

A: I was a former athlete that had allowed myself to get out of shape through a work life that included a lot of travel. I hired a trainer to get me back in shape to deal with the travel schedule. I fell in love with fitness and decided that I wanted to share this with my friends and family. From there, word spread; what started as a hobby became a profession that I love.

Q: What has been one of your favorite client experiences?

A: There are a lot of them, but I'll never forget Marta. Marta Reily was 70 years old when she started with me. Her only goal was to go to Target, Whole Foods and one other store on the same day without resting. She achieved this and so much more through basic, fundamental movements and slow, steady progress. Additionally, I love getting people their first pull-up, especially when they think it's absolutely impossible. The look of surprise followed by pure joy when they get their first rep still gives me goosebumps every time.

Q: What is your proudest physical achievement?

A: Oh boy, let's see - I'm not great at tooting my own horn but ...qualifying for state in 3 sports in 1993. Qualifying for the CrossFit Games Regionals in 2010. Finishing the Miami Marathon on 35 miles of training in 2011. Winning the Pro division of Hyrox Miami in 2019. Continuing to race local 5k trail runs with an old teammate and my wife.

Q: Why do you love Orange Shoe?

A: I love the idea of very small groups and 1 on 1 personal fitness with steady, progressive results.
