Hey friends! Many of you are out here kicking butt in classes and I am so proud of you! But I wanted to ask you: Have you been fueling your body for max recovery?
During your workouts you are pushing your body to its limits and working hard to build muscle. However, if you don't refuel your body appropriately afterward you could be slowing your progression. Lifting weights naturally results in small tears in your muscles which will naturally repair but you can aid in that healing by consuming protein after your workout. Aiming to consume 20-30g of protein within an hour post workout aids in protein synthesis (growth) by providing the building blocks (amino acids) your muscles need to repair themselves after a hard workout! To take this even farther, pair your protein with a carbohydrate and you will have a super food combo to help restore your glycogen stores! YAY restored energy!
So next time you work out, keep it simple and support your body's recovery by consuming something like a protein shake and banana afterward. Your body is working hard for you and taking in protein is just one more way you can move toward your new year's goals more effectively! You've got this!
