About
Griffin joins us from the mountains of Tennessee with 10 years of sports experience, including competitive swimming and water polo, and is a current member of the Chicago Dragons Rugby Club. He brings his well-rounded athletic background to his coaching style, using the discipline, technique, and competitive mindset he’s developed over the years. Before becoming a personal trainer, Griffin spent years working in the hospitality sphere, where he learned how to connect with people on a deeper level and create a welcoming space for everyone. Outside of training, Griffin enjoys trying new food, traveling to exciting new places around the world, and having a pint with friends.
Q & A
Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?
A: I became a Personal Trainer because I have a passion for fitness and for helping others discover their love for being active, achieving long-term goals, and realizing that they can do it.
Q: What has been one of your favorite client experiences?
A: One of my favorite client experiences is actually with my dad. He wanted to get back into fitness and improve his physicality. After working with him to build an approachable program, he built a consistent routine and checked off many of the goals he set for himself. It was incredibly exciting to watch him achieve those goals—and continue to maintain and build on them.
Q: What is your proudest physical achievement?
A: My proudest physical achievement was playing in a competitive rugby tournament in Italy. It was a four-day event with two to three games each day. It showed me that with an “I can do this” mindset, I can push my body to its limits and come out stronger than before. We ended up placing 22nd out of 122 teams in the world for IGR Rugby.
Q: Why do you love Orange Shoe?
A: I love Orange Shoe because of how excited people are to be here. Everyone is motivated and eager to get in and get to work. Helping others feel comfortable in the gym and welcoming so many different faces each day—while staying kind and professional—is really special to witness. Everyone has a different story, and it’s very cool to see people be themselves and grow through fitness.
