Matthew Ramsay is originally from Lexington, Kentucky, where he attended a local school dedicated to providing quality education to those in the health and wellness professions. He graduated in 2011 and hasn't looked back since. Matthew is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In his 15-year career, he has spent significant time learning hands-on from physical therapists, strength and conditioning coaches, and other excellent personal trainers, while also working with clients from all walks of life. Having been an avid weightlifter since rehabbing from abdominal surgery at age eleven, Matthew found that training was the perfect combination of his love of exercise and his desire to help others feel better and more comfortable with their bodies. For the last 10 years, Matthew has worked with a specific focus on helping middle-aged and older adults overcome barriers and uncertainty when it comes to their exercise and fitness. Having dreamed of moving to Chicago for years, Matthew, his wife Kendall, and their three cats moved from Lexington in 2025 in order to be closer to family and grow both of their careers in the Windy City, and he's excited to share his years of experience and expertise with the Orange Shoe community.

Q: Why did you become a personal trainer?

A: To help create safe and comfortable spaces for people who want to be healthy but don't know where to start.

Q: What has been one of your favorite client experiences?

A: Helping one of my clients get to where he could do his first ever pull up at age 75 was one of the coolest experiences I've had as a trainer.

Q: What is your proudest physical achievement?

A: I'm proud of having been able to maintain and refine my focus on longevity first and preventing injury, both in myself and others.
